Famous, or infamous gossip website TMZ, broke the news of music icon Prince’s death, claiming that he was treated for a drug overdose days before his death. The site quotes “multiple sources in Moline” – the town in Illinois where his plane made an emergency landing on Friday – who claim that Prince was rushed to a hospital with a drug overdose.
They claim doctors gave him a “save shot” – typically administered to counteract the effects of an opiate. The report added that doctors advised Prince to stay in the hospital for 24 hours. His people demanded a private room, and when they were told that wasn’t possible Prince and co. decided to bail.
The singer was released three hours after arriving and flew home. “We’re told when Prince left he “was not doing well.”
More details surfaced later, revealing that Prince’s jet plane made an emergency landing in Moline, Ill., last Friday due to a medical emergency. His rep said at the time that the singer was struggling with the flu.
Authorities found Prince unresponsive in an elevator when they arrived Thursday morning, responding to a 911 call. First responders tried CPR, but were unable to revive the pop star and he was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Prince’s death. The Carver County Sheriff’s Office also released the transcript of the 911 call that an unidentified male made to report Prince’s death. The caller said the people at the house were “distraught,” and said he didn’t know how Prince died.
