The expansion of Federal Government College – Ogbomoso Grammar School end of Igbeti – Ogbomoso highway, which is almost completed is one of the best things to have happened to Ogbomoso in recent time. The multi-billion naira road has changed the town completely and Governor Ajimobi deserves commendation for this lofty project.
However, the barricades that are being erected on the road to stop lorries from passing through the road to preserve its durability are unnecessary at the moment. If at all barricades would be erected, it should be after the completion of the Ibadan-Ilorin expressway under construction by the federal government. The road dualized by the Oyo State government is not a township road but a highway linking Saki to Benin City.
Therefore, all vehicles coming from Kwara State and Oke-Ogun axis and going towards Lagos or the East ply the road. I therefore urge the state government to either rescind the decision to erect the barricades or direct the contractor handling the job to put the Ogbomoso end of Ilorin–Ogbomoso expressway in good condition to aid movement for vehicles coming from the Oke-Ogun axis.
