This was contained in an official letter dated November 19, 2009 signed on behalf of the Olubadan-in-Council by his Secretary, K. Liasu. The deposition letter ordered Ishola to stop parading himself as the Jagun Balogun of Ibadanland henceforth.

 Ishola who was the former National Secretary of the famous Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) was accused of flagrantly violating the undertaking he signed with the Olubadan before installation that he would not participate in politics. Specifically, he was accused of violating the undertaking by accepting an appointment as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Governor Alao-Akala

The letter stated in part that “your purported appointment as Jagun Balogun of Ibadanland is hereby declared null and void; that the letter dated 9th March,

2009 appointing you as Jagun Balogun of Ibadanland is hereby withdrawn and declared null and void and of no effect. Whatsoever; that you should stop parading yourself as Jagun Balogun of Ibadanland with effect from date of this letter.

“The Olubadan-in-Council at its meeting of Friday, 13th November, 2009 observed with dismay your involvement in partisan politics as a traditional chief of the Olubadan as evident in your recent appointment as Senior Special Assistant to the Oyo state Governor on Public Affairs.

While noting that this act of yours is a flagrant violation of His Royal Majesty, Kabiyesi, Olubadan of Ibadanland’s directive as it affects the involvement of his traditional chiefs in partisan politics as well as a deliberate reneging of your pledge as contained in your letter of undertaking dated 13th March, 2009, the Council is therefore of the view that you be sanctioned accordingly.”

In a sharp reaction, however, Ishola remarked that the offence for which he was accused of was not only unsubstantiated but was an act of hostility and affront by the Olubadan on the government of Adebayo Alao Akala.

While declaring that he remained the Jagun Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, he queried why “anybody should determine how I put food on my table.”

“The letter and the order contained therein remain a nullity,” adding that, “the letter is a direct infringement on my fundamental right to association.”

He spoke further: “We were compelled to sign the undertaking written by the Olubadan before the installation, but I signed it because I knew I was not going into partisan politics. If the Olubadan alleges now that I am involved in partisan politics because I take up an appointment as an expert, was it not the same governor Alao-Akala who approved and gave the Olubadan his instrument of office? Why did he not wait for an Ibadan governor before taking his instrument of office as the Olubadan of Ibadanland?”
