Gov Aliyu imposes curfew in Niger

The Niger state government on Tuesday imposed curfew in the state to forestall total breakdown of law and order following the emergence of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the winner of the last Saturday presidential elections.

The state governor, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu made the announcement through the Secretary to State Government, Sa’idu Ndako Kpaki. He said the curfew takes effect from 6pm today to 8am Wednesday.

He explained that the curfew would be enforced in the major towns of the state that includes, Minna, Bida, Mokwa, Kontagora, and Suleja.

According to him, Buhari’s victory should be celebrated and not marred by unrest.
