Bauchi State governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed, has sworn in six newly appointed High Court Judges and five Sharia Court of Appeal Khadis.

The inauguration ceremony took place Monday in Bauchi amidst heavy rainfall, where the governor emphasised the importance of impartiality and fairness in judicial decisions, stressing the role of upholding justice and human rights.

Addressing the newly sworn-in judges, Governor Bala urged them to prioritise efforts towards decongesting the state’s correctional facilities, which are currently overcrowded. He highlighted his administration’s commitment to providing the judiciary with necessary support and resources to operate effectively, including provision for vehicles and other essential requirements.

 

“As a democrat, I have never interfered in the judiciary’s activities, including appointments, promotions, or the handling of cases,” Governor Bala affirmed. He commended the state Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Rabi Talatu, for her leadership and expressed readiness to facilitate a conducive environment for judicial operations.

In response, state Chief Judge, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar expressed gratitude for the governor’s confidence in the new appointees and assured the judiciary’s commitment to upholding justice and human rights.
