Gov. Buni Presents N515.5bn 2026 Budget

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has proposed a total of Five Hundred and Eighty-Three Million Naira (515,583,000,000) as the 2026 budget for capital, recurrent, overhead and personnel costs.

The budget which was tagged as the “Budget of Economic Growth and Infrastructural Transformation” was presented by the governor before the State House of Assembly on Thursday.

The governor said out of the budget amount, the sum of One Hundred and Ninety-Two Billion, One Hundred and Twenty-Eight Million Naira (192,128,000,000) representing 37.3% of the budget will be allocated to recurrent expenditure.

He further said the sum of Three Hundred and Twenty Three Billion, Four Hundred and Fifty-Five million (323,455,000,000) representing 62.7% of the budget is earmarked for capital expenditure.

He added the sources for financing the budget receipts from the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), AIDs, Grants and Capital Development Fund (CDF).

He said the budget would sustain the efforts of his administration in construction of roads, hospitals, markets, schools and boosting agricultural development.

According to him, the budget would dwell on completion of ongoing projects and implementation of new ones in pursuance of Government’s post-insurgency recovery and speedy socio-economic development of the State.

Responding, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio, said the house will scrutinize and pass the budget speedily.
