The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced plans to transform the Tropicana Complex into a modern hub for business and leisure, as part of Governor Umo Eno’s broader urban renewal and development agenda.

In line with this initiative, the governor has directed the Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA) to begin clearing structures within the complex to create space for ongoing and future projects.

A statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, noted that the move will pave the way for the completion of major facilities, including the Convention Centre, Ibom Hotels Project, and the ARISE Shopping City.

During his project inspection tour on Wednesday, Governor Eno emphasized that government development efforts must remain unhindered, adding that access to public facilities is crucial for the success of the state’s economic and tourism master plan.

Stakeholders, including civic and professional groups with offices in the area, are among those expected to relocate to allow for the redevelopment exercise.
