Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has charged government officials in Adamawa State to embrace professionalism, discipline and teamwork in the discharge of their duties, as a five-day capacity-building training programme came to an end in Yola.

The governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Amos Edgar, gave the charge at the closing ceremony of the training organised for officials serving in the Government House and other state institutions.

The training conducted by Platinum Protocol and Verity Consultants Limited, focused on capacity building, etiquette, institutional synergy and attitudinal change.

Fintiri commended the organisers and participants for their commitment, noting that effective governance requires more than routine administration but demands competence, collaboration and accountability.

He described public office as a sacred trust and urged officials to demonstrate integrity, punctuality, professionalism and respect in their dealings with citizens and colleagues.

The governor stressed that attitudinal change remains critical to sustainable development, adding that the success of government policies depends largely on the mindset and work ethics of civil servants.

He further urged participants to apply the knowledge gained from the training to improve service delivery across ministries, departments and agencies.

Earlier, the consultants said the training was designed to strengthen coordination among protocol, security and media units while promoting efficiency and professionalism in government operations.

Speaking on behalf of the firm, the Chief Consultant, Ambassador Ibrahim Mohammed Bashir. OFR as well as Ambassador Mustapha Suleiman one of the Consultants, a former Permanent Secretary and seasoned administrator, outlined the core modules of the training.

The sessions covered, synergy, amongst protocol, security and media,introduction to protocol, interpersonal relationship skills and personal diplomacy, planning and time management, attitudinal change at work place, precedence and order of precedence, ceremonial procedures, etiquette in protocol management seating arrangements and dining etiquette.

According to the consultants, the overall objective of the training is to exhibit highest standard of professionalism and to focus on their jobs, to be trustworthy, discipline, loyal and patriotic amongst others. To also promote purposeful leadership through teamwork and to instill the highest standards of professionalism among government officials.

Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to continuous training and human capital development, noting that the quality of governance is directly linked to the competence of the workforce.

The governor also called for stronger inter-agency collaboration, urging officials to break institutional barriers and work collectively towards achieving the state’s development goals.

The training programme ended with participants encouraged to uphold the values of excellence, discipline, in their respective roles, as the governor formally declared the event closed.
