Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has postponed his  defection from the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement on  Tuesday evening, the governor said he postponed his defection, initially scheduled for Wednesday, over the unfortunate abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State.

Daily Trust had reported how bandits attacked Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, Danko Wasagu area of Kebbi, on Monday, killing the Vice-Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and abducting 25 students.

Commenting on the tragic development, the governor said the nation is confronted with the “painful reality of insecurity”, there solidarity and compassion must raise above politics.

“It is a time for reflection, prayers, unity and collective actions among Nigerians, ” he said.

He, however, called on all security agencies to make efforts to rescue the innocent school children and reunite them with their families.

He said a new date for his movement into the ruling party would be communicated.
