Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has presented a N650 billion budget for 2026 physical year to the State House of Assembly, on Wednesday.

Under the budget estimate, the sum of N396bn was allocated as capital expenditure, while the sum of N178bn was allocated for recurrent expenditure.

Kefas, while presenting the budget estimate at the state’s House of Assembly, promised to focus more on infrastructural development, energy expansion, and social development across the state.

He explained that N457.74bn (70.6 percent) of the budget is for capital projects, while N192.89bn (29.64 percent) is earmarked for recurrent expenditure.

The governor said the budget would be funded through federation account allocation, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), aids and grants, as well as capital development receipts.

He said his administration was determined to expand digital revenue collection systems and new streams in agriculture, mining, property, business, and tourism.

Kefas also disclosed that 19.84 percent of the budget is allocated to construction of roads and transport, while 15.98 percent of the budget estimate is for education and skill development.  

In his remark, the Speaker of the House, John Bozena, commended the governor for his judicious utilisation of state resources, assuring that the House would accord the budget a speedy passage.
