Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the appointment of Kabir Yahaya Gusau as the pioneer Managing Director of the Gusau International Airport.
The Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, said the appointment was part of efforts to ensure effective coordination and operational readiness ahead of the airport’s commencement of operations.
In a statement by the SSG’s media aide, Suleman Ahmad Tudu, the government said the airport is expected to enhance international connectivity and boost investment and economic development in Zamfara State.
The statement described Gusau as a seasoned aviation professional with more than three decades of experience in aviation operations and airspace management.

During his career, he served in several strategic roles within the Nigerian aviation sector, including Airspace Manager at the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) at Gombe Airport and Special Assistant to the Managing Director of NAMA.
Until his appointment, he was the General Manager, Aeronautical Information Services at NAMA headquarters in Abuja.
Gusau holds a Master’s degree in Transport Planning and a postgraduate diploma from Lagos State University, as well as certifications in Aeronautical Communication from the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria.
Governor Lawal charged him to deploy his expertise to ensure efficient and seamless airport operations in line with global standards.
