Gov. Lawal approves construction of new NUJ Secretariat

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State approved the remodeling of the state Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ (NUJ).

Commenting on the development, Comrade Ibrahim Maizare, NUJ Chairman in the state, described the project as long awaited mission of the union.

In an interview after going round the Secretariat, Comrade Maizare said the Zamfara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) was delighted to announce that Governor Lawal had approved the construction of a brand-new NUJ Secretariat for working journalists in Zamfara State.

The union described the development as fulfillment of the Governor’s commitment made to the union prior to his assumption of office.

The union also appreciates Governor Dauda Lawal for honoring his promise and for awarding the contract to a reputable indigenous contractor.

Speaking at the project site, Alhaji Almajir assured that he would deliver a state-of-the-art structure that meets the highest standards, in line with the governor’s vision of making the new NUJ Secretariat one of the best in Africa.

The Union further commended the gesture and said it will not only enhance the working environment for journalists but also strengthen media professionalism and press freedom in the state.
