Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has rehabilitated unserviceable operational vehicles belonging to security agencies in the state, as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and improve public service delivery.

The refurbished vehicles were handed over to beneficiary agencies during a brief ceremony at the Government House, Gusau. Among the recipients was the Nigeria Immigration Service, represented by the State Comptroller, M. S. Aliyu.

A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Jamilu Bello, said the initiative followed the state government’s observation that several operational vehicles used by security agencies were grounded due to mechanical faults.

According to the statement, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Lawal Barau Bungudu, explained that the government consequently initiated a rehabilitation programme under which non-functional vehicles were repaired, serviced and restored to optimal working condition by the Mechanical and Electrical Departments of the ministry.

“The successful rehabilitation exercise reflects the state government’s commitment to effective asset management, technical efficiency and institutional support for security agencies,” the statement said.

Governor Lawal, while formally handing over some of the refurbished vehicles, reiterated his administration’s resolve to equip security agencies with the logistics required to enhance mobility, response time and overall operational effectiveness across the state.

The government said the initiative aligns with its broader commitment to supporting security agencies in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, particularly the protection of lives and property and the maintenance of law and order.

The statement added that the rehabilitation process and subsequent handover underscored transparency, accountability and inter-agency collaboration in the execution of the programme.

Commissioner Bungudu noted that the exercise also highlighted the expanding role of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure in providing technical and engineering support to security and public service institutions beyond conventional road and infrastructure development.

He said the Zamfara State Government would continue to support security agencies through infrastructure development, equipment maintenance and strategic inter-agency collaboration as part of a holistic approach to improving security and promoting socio-economic development in the state.
