Nasarawa state Governor, Abdullahi Sule, on Thursday, April 3, received the Torch of Unity presented to him by a delegation from the National Sports Commission (NSC), preparatory to the forthcoming National Sports Festival (NSF), in Ogun State.

The 2025 National Sports Festival will be held from May 16 to 30 in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Addressing the state contingent at the Government House, Lafia during a brief reception, the governor welcomed the delegation to the state and appreciated them for bringing a message of peace and unity.

He, however, said that Nigeria is in need of peace and unity, particularly at this material time.

Sule also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting any initiative geared toward ensuring peace.

He, therefore, assured that Nasarawa State will present quality athletes in events that it has comparative advantage to enable them showcase their talents to the world.

On her part, the leader of delegation, Ikana Mbora, appreciated the state government for the befitting reception accorded them.

She, therefore, maintained that the festival tagged “Gateway Games” will be a fulfilling experience for the participants and would feature a wide range of sports.

Mbora concluded that following the completion of the zonal eliminations in team sports, thousands of athletes from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), were ready to showcase their talents to the world.
