Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved a comprehensive welfare package for Haruna Bashir, whose six children and wife were brutally killed in the Chiranci Dorayi area of the state.

This was disclosed in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, following a condolence visit to the family.

Fatima Abubakar, 35, and her six children were killed in their home on Saturday.

The police had arrested three suspects, including Umar Auwalu, 23, a nephew of the deceased woman, who confessed to leading the attack.

Bature, in the statement, said the package includes sponsorship for Hajj and Umrah, provision of a new house and full government support to help the bereaved father rebuild his life.

The governor also directed the state Attorney General to ensure the speedy prosecution of suspects arrested in connection with the killings.

Governor Yusuf described the incident as tragic and painful, assuring the family of the government’s continued support.

He ordered the allocation of a befitting house to the father and pledged to cater for his welfare, including support for remarriage if he so desires.

On justice, the governor stressed that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in line with the law, adding that he would not hesitate to sign death warrants where applicable.

The bereaved father reportedly donated his personal house to the state government for the construction of an Islamiyya school.
