The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, the 15th and 16th Emirs of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero and Muhammadu Sanusi II respectively have sympathised with traders affected by a fire outbreak at Kwari market.
Daily Trust reported that the fire razed the popular Kantin-Kwari textile market in Kano on Saturday night, destroying goods and property worth millions of naira.
Commiserating with the affected traders, their families, and the entire community of Kano State, Governor Yusuf expressed deep shock and heartfelt sympathy over the tragic incident.
According to his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor described the incident as a devastating blow to the state’s economic hub and shared in the grief of those who suffered losses.

The governor urged traders and market authorities to remain vigilant and strengthen safety measures to prevent future occurrences.
He emphasised the critical need for enhanced precautionary steps to protect both lives and property, stressing that safeguarding the market was essential to ensuring its continued role as a pillar of Kano economy.
He applauded the rapid intervention of the Federal Fire Service, Kano State Fire Service, and additional reinforcements from Sabon Gari, Dawanau, and Singa markets, to successfully contain the fire and prevent further destruction.
Governor Yusuf also commended the bravery and swift action of private companies and other volunteers involved in battling the blaze.
The 16th Emir, Sanusi II, prayed for the affected traders and sought God’s intervention for the return of the lost wealth.
Also, the 15th Emir, Bayero, who visited the scene of the incident in company with his admirers and supporters, prayed for the losses incurred at the market to be restored.
He thanked the Kano State Fire Service, security personnel, the Traders’ Association, and individuals for their efforts in helping to extinguish the fire.
