The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah, has called on President Bola Tinubu-led administration to go after the notable Nigerians collaborating with bandits.
Kukah claimed that the federal government officials knew the Nigerians who were collaborating and cooperating with the bandits kidnapping children and women for ransom in the North-West.
Recently over schoolchildren kidnapped in Kaduna State were recovered from bandits by the military personnel who handed them over to Governor Uba Sani.
Speaking about the worsening insecurity in the country, especially in the North, the Bishop called for the government’s urgent intervention during an interview with Channels Television.
Kukah said, “The intelligence community has an idea of the identities of the key Nigerians who are partnering with ravaging bandits.
“It is clear that the federal government at the highest level knows what is going on. At least the intelligence community has an idea.
“There are key Nigerians who are saying openly that they know more than they think the rest of us know, and I think that it is the business of the federal government to find out those who claim to know where the bandits are; those who are collaborating and cooperating with the bandits.
“It is the greatest humiliation of our nation. The security agencies in collaboration with those who have said openly that they know what is going on… I think the federal government has the capacity to go after those people.”
