Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has made significant strides in promoting Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) in Adamawa State. His administration has implemented various initiatives aimed at empowering women, youth, and marginalized groups, ensuring that development benefits all segments of society.

The governor has focused on empowering women through bringing them into government by either providing a platform for them to contest and win elections or through appointments into various political offices; targeted grants and micro loans, fostering financial independence and strengthening small-scale enterprises.

These efforts have enabled many women to start and grow their businesses, contributing to the local economy and improving their livelihoods.

The deliberate policy of bringing women into government and governance cannot be ignored and the result is there for all to see. A case in point was the insistence that Local Council Vice Chairs must be women and the recent inauguration of Mrs. Peace Samson Audu as the Chairman of Fufore Local Government attests to the governor’s foresight.

The inauguration of Mrs. Audu is a testament to the confidence of his excellency in the capacity of women to contribute to governance and a barometer for others.

Recognizing the importance of youth in driving economic growth, the governor has revitalized the hitherto moribund Skills Acquisition Centers that equip young people with vocational skills.

These Centers provide training in various trades, enabling youth to launch businesses and contribute to job creation. Additionally, the administration has supported youth-led initiatives and entrepreneurship programs, fostering innovation and economic participation.

The governor’s commitment to inclusive education is evident in his administration’s efforts to eliminate financial barriers to education. Initiatives such as the Free School Feeding Programme and the abolition of secondary school fees have boosted enrollment and retention rates.

These measures ensure that children from all backgrounds have access to quality education, enhancing their future prospects. This aspect benefits both the youth and their parents.

Equally significant for the womenfolk, the administration has significantly improved healthcare access for marginalized communities. Modern facilities have been provided for numerous health centers, ensuring quality medical services. Maternal and child health programs, including immunization campaigns and prenatal care, have reduced mortality rates and improved overall health outcomes.
