Governor Geidam, the reviver of Yobe education

The giant strides toward the rebuilding of Education sector in Yobe state is absolutely amazing, despite the fact that the state has suffered setbacks due to Boko Haram insurgency.

It is not more than a year when the state activities started picking up and the return to normalcy, but with the tireless efforts of Governor Ibrahim Geidam, the state’s education sector has taken a wonderful dimension which was originated from the unimaginable interventions starting from the primary education up to tertiary institutions.

The intervention in primary education caters more to the construction and reconstruction of old and dilapidated primary schools, provision of needed school materials, recruitment of new teachers and ensuring free education to the children across the state.

In the tertiary institutions starting from the state owned colleges, polytechnics and university, no one will deny the fact that Governor Geidam is the reviver of education in Yobe state. He has totally rebuilt the College of Legal Studies, Nguru, College of Education, Gashua, College of Nursing, Damaturu and College of Agriculture, Gujba along with many other institutions.

And the state polytechnic in Geidam was given a facelift with the provision of quality equipment and staffing. Lecturers were awarded scholarships to further their studies in and out of the country to give the education sector the strength it required.

The Yobe state university has become one of the competing state universities in Nigeria which has quality staff both administrative and academics including professors and doctors cutting across the various departments of the institution. Recently, the governor approved the establishment of medical college in the university which will operate with one of the best state hospitals in the country – the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital.

In fact I can’t write all about the myriad efforts made by the Geidam administration in Yobe but with the little I have highlighted I am very optimistic that the governor’s accomplishments are noted and commended as well.
