In his welcome address to the audience on the occasion of the last Sallah traditional homage, the Kano State governor stated that he has kept 100 per cent of the promises he made to the people of Kano? And that he has been doing his best to address myriads of problems bedeviling Kano State in the past three years of his administration.

Well, even though this wasn’t the first time such statement was made by the Kano governor; I believe the world eminently deserves to know that the policy thrust of the Kano APC administration contrary to official dictates had indeed been centered and biased solely on the development of Kano metropolis alone!

Of course, even casual visitors to the city centre can see overwhelming constructions and rehabilitations of new roads in some areas, especially-the Nassarawa GRA, and adjoining local governments in the metropolis, but a keen glance at the rural areas however will leave a sour taste given the terrible reality which categorically depicts total neglect.

Indeed, the Kano rural dwellers’ well-being doesn’t matter in the current administration’s scheme of things and that negative pictures emanating therefrom are clearly projecting the obvious state of hapless rural dwellers on whose votes, AKY administration drives her current mandate. This has often caused keen observers to ask pertinent question about whether AKY needed a second term and whether he is being adviced fully about key components of the state?

Someone might try to point at the ongoing five kilometers road constructions without taking into cognizance those projects that have only ended up at the doorsteps of the local government headquarters alone; leaving behind most rural population centers empty and fallow.

Tragically, all the campaign promises that were made to our people like the construction of all the feeder roads to link up the farming clusters to the various village markets for onward delivery of farm produce to the city-centre are yet to be fulfilled.

So far, basic amenities like water supply remain a luxury, and ditto rural primary health care delivery which barely exists through the instrumentality of community efforts. Gratifyingly however, as the day of reckoning is coming gradually, and steadily, we shall see how the governor and his people can traverse those rural feeder roads that they have so far refused to address in search of our votes again. We will hear what they will have to say to our people.
