The Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Kaduna State Chapter on Tuesday described the position of Governors Forum on Local Government autonomy and new minimum wage as anti people’s wish.

The Union said their stands on the issues call for concern because it is not done in the interest of workers.

The State Acting President of the Union, Comrade Rayyanu Isayaku Turunku made the statement at a news briefing to mark the 40th anniversary of the Union in the state.

Comrade Rayyanu noted that full autonomy, which allows the Local Governments to discharge their constitutional functions without interference, is the gateway to rapid social-economic development of the country.

He also frowned at the controversies surrounding the new minimum wage as a result of resistance from State Governors.

“The 30,000 naira demand by the organised labour is very reasonable considering the economy realities in the country,” he said.

The Acting President commended the founding fathers and the leadership of NULGE , both past and present, for their foresight and sacrifices, which has projected the Union in an enviable position.
