Borno State Government yesterday awarded the construction of 5.32 kilometers dualisation of four selected Maiduguri township roads as well as 8.2 kilometers of new roads and drainages within the metropolis.
Speaking during the grand signing of the contract agreement held at the state secretariat, the Permanent Secretary, Borno State Ministry of Works, Ali Goni Lawan, said that all the projects would be completed within one year.
He assured that the contractors would mobilise qualified engineers to the sites who would also comply with the specified guidelines.
Lawan who gave the breakdown of the road projects said that it included dualization of Ahmadu Bello Way through the Post Office Roundabout to Bolori Roundabout Junction as well as Gwange with a bridge. The second one, he said, was the Mogoram Road from El-kanemi Roundabout to Lagos Street Junction.
“The third one consists of dualisation of some parts of Shehu Sanda Kura Road from El-kanemi Roundabout to Monday Market Roundabout and the fourth one is dualisation of Lafia Road from Bolori Roundabout to Mogoram Road Junction awarded to Eighteen Engineering Company (EEC) at the cost of N8.076,304,425.45,” he said.
Lawan also disclosed that the construction of 8.2 kilometer new roads and drainages would cost the state government N2,812,405,537.48.
