Yobe State government officials and traditional rulers were absent at the townhall meeting on National Security held on Monday in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Daily Trust gathered that the meeting, which was organized by the Federal Government, had representatives from all the northeastern states except Yobe.
When contacted on why the Yobe State missed the townhall meeting, the Secretary to Yobe State Government, Alhaji Baba Mallum Wali said the invitation was extended to them very late.
“We received the invitation late evening on Friday. So the notice was too short for us to mobilize the people that would attend. But my advice for them is to give enough time for people to prepare when next such meeting would be held,” he said.
The chairman, Network of Civil Society in Yobe State, Hauwa Bah Abubakar, said she did not receive any invitation to attend the event.
Meanwhile, the Network Civil Society Organizations in Borno State, had also accused the organizers of the town hall meeting for giving politician more preference than stakeholders.
The Chairman, NCSO, Ahmed Shehu, however praised the Federal Government for organizing the meeting.
