The Ogun State Government said it has been working with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to restore electricity in the 40 communities in Ado-Odo/Ota LGA experiencing power outage following the destruction of electric poles and cables by a rainstorm on Sunday.

Our correspondent reports that a downpour which lasted about two hours wreaked havoc in some parts of the state.

The government said it immediately commenced fixing the poles and cables, assuring that electricity would soon be restored.

The government gave the assurance in a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Kayode Akinmade.

Akinmade explained that, “Our team went on a physical site inspection of the affected area on Monday to ascertain the extent of the damage and to know how to engage with the IBEDC team. We are currently working with the IBEDC team. Some of the less affected feeders have been restored and energised while the clean-up of the most affected areas has already started.”
