The Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, has said the intervention of government on the gully erosion at Wadata community has saved lives and property of residents of the area. 

Speaking while inspecting ongoing work at the erosion site on Saturday, Ajiya said he and members of the community were happy with the efforts of the FCT Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, who facilitated the intervention of the Federal Government.  

He said but for the government intervention, only God knew the gavity of the disaster that would have happened, noting that the erosion was already threatening some houses in the area. 

The chairman also inspected the construction of  a seven -kilometre road at Lowcost-Abattoir in the area. 

He stated that the council was currently embarking on reticulation of water pipes within the metropolis of the area so that every household would have access to pipe-borne water. 

“And I believe that by the time we finish reticulation of pipes to various houses, the issue of water problem will become an issue of the past in Abaji,” he added.
