Speaking at the occasion of 10 years anniversary of the school held in Kaduna, Abduljelili explained that too much emphasis placed on certificates makes people do anything to get them.
“People will not mind to bribe or engage in any form of malpractice to get a certificate because Nigeria celebrates certificate instead of knowledge and skills that lead to productivity,” he said.
He emphasised that government also needs to tackle corruption and unemployment before it can fight examination malpractice.
Commenting on the education system in the country, he stressed the need for government to take drastic action to save the educational sector from collapsing.
With the springing up of private schools in different parts of the country, he advised that government needs to ensure quality assurance control in the interest of the children.
“I could remember then, there was little financial crisis but with support of people and the determination we had, we were able to scale through. Commitment on the part of the staff and parents too really contributed to the success of the school,” Abduljelili said.
The school which started with about 12 students and three pioneer staff 10 years ago, now boasts of over 1,000 students with over 60 teaching and non-teaching staff.
