The Gombe State Government Friday said it has suspended grazing by underage children and movement of herdsmen in and out of the state for three months.
The state’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mr Julius Ishaya Lepes, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on the outcome of the state security meeting convened by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

He stated that the government also directed farmers in the state to harvest their farm produce within the stipulated three months, saying the decision was taken in order to avoid farmers and herders clash in the state.
According to him, the resolutions of the council directed that there shall be no farming and grazing activities from 6pm to 6am.
“Farmers are not allowed to burn their fodders; that’s the remnant on their farms. This to ensure that when they are done with their harvest, the herders can go in and benefit from the remnant.
“The council also directed that migrating herdsmen and their cattle are not allowed into and of course out of Gombe State until after harvest which will last till the end of January 2022,” the commissioner said.
The commissioner said the suspension is with immediate effect.
