Worried by increasing out-of-school children especially the girl-child, the Katsina State Ministry of Education through the Global Partnership on Education is meeting with traditional and religious leaders to create increased awareness of the rural communities on the importance of education.
Speaking at the opening session of the meeting, the state Commissioner of Education, Dr. Badamasi Lawal, said religious leaders had a commanding followership and their involvement in the campaign would change opinions of parents towards their children’s education.
In their separate remarks, Dr. YM Matazu of CAN and Sani Zubairu from JNI stressed the need for the religious leaders to champion the campaign in view of its importance in both religions.
