Gov’t to build capacity of health officers

The Kogi State Government has said it had concluded plans to boost the capacity of Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) through positive collaboration with private sector practitioners.

The Director-General of the of state Bureau for Public Private Partnership (BPPP), Mr Robert Achanya who disclosed this at a press briefing in Lokoja said government was not in any way contemplating privatisation of the sector.

Achanya said that the public-private collaboration aimed to boost the capacity of the officers with regards to their registration and certification for enhanced service delivery.

He lamented that so far, there were only four registered and licensed environmental health officers in the state.
