Speaking on the event billed to hold next month, renowned musicologist Professor Ekwueme, who will also serve as lead judge for the competition, said it will be a ‘monumental show’.

“Preparations towards the 2012 edition of the have reached the advanced stage and all is in place to ensure that guests at the grand finale of the festival will be treated to the best of the different genres of gospel music.”

He said choirmasters of finalist choirs were brought to Abuja Friday to be acquainted with the music syllabus for this year’s event.

“Two of the best choirs were selected from a grouping of blocks of various modes of worship such as the Pentecostal, the Evangelical and the Orthodox Christian music. We have organised a workshop to present the music syllabus to the choirmasters whose choirs will be competing this year. We are working towards good musicianship, good vocals in the worship of God. So guests should expect a monumental musical get-together this September.”

In the same light, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) Pastor Ayo Oritsejaifor, described the event as an avenue for churches in Nigeria to bond together in the spirit of worship.

Evangelist Ify Ebosie, the brain behind the initiative and founder of Royal Life Ministries, expressed optimism that the AFNC will help promote the message of peace even as the country continues to witness a rise in violent crime.
