2016 Grammy Awardee for Best Children’s Album, Tim Kubart and the Space Cadets will be performing on Monday, April 23 as part of events organised by the American Embassy in Abuja in partnership with the Abuja Literary Society, to mark World Book and Copyright and World Intellectual Property Days.
The weeklong celebration, themed ‘Books Build Community’ which will hold at the Abuja Pavilion will feature multiple events.
According to a statement by the embassy, on Monday, the American Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Stuart Symington will join wife of Nigeria’s Vice President, H.E. Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo and nine ambassadors and high commissioners of diplomatic missions in Abuja to commemorate World Book and Copyright Day.
It also said, “They will continue their tour of Nigeria in Lagos beginning April 24. On April 24 and 25, the band will conduct master classes Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON), the Ikorodu Talented Kids dance troupe, and Society for Performance Arts in Nigeria (SPAN).
“On April 25, the band will participate in an interactive session with Nnenna and Friends. They will wrap up their visit with an interactive session with school children in Makoko community, hosted by Slum2School Africa, on April 27.
On Thursday, April 26, at the Freedom Park Lagos, the Embassy, in collaboration with The Temple Management Company, will sponsor a concert for adults to mark World Intellectual Property Day.
Tim Kubart and the Space Cadets will perform alongside Nigerian acts – Iyanya, Jeff Akoh and Bisola in a concert aimed to draw attention to the importance of intellectual property rights.
This year’s theme, the statement said, “celebrates the important role of education and the international community’s commitment to Nigeria’s future.”
