Grassroot football is to discover hidden talents – Ogunjobi

He made the assertion in Osogbo on Friday after the draws for the competition tagged “Osun Governorship Cup Competition”.

Represented by Emmanuel Adeniyi, the state’s referees and technical committee chairman, Ogunjobi said that the decision to return to the local government areas was `to catch them young’’.

He said that building football teams from the grassroots would go a long way to get talents who would make the state proud in future.

According to Ogunjobi, the competition will commence on Nov. 3 among 18 football clubs in three centres – Osogbo, Ilesa and Ede.

In Group A are Obokun Bombers FC, Boluwaduro FC, Ayedaide FC, Ifedayo FC and Oke-Ila FC.

Group B comprises Egbedore FC, Ayedire FC, Atakunmosa FC, Orolu FC and Boripe FC while Group C has Alao Babes of Iwo, Oranmiyan United of Ile-Ife, Ila FC and Ilesa West FC.

Ilesa East FC, Odootin FC, Adekanmi Babes of Ede and Ifelodun FC were drawn in group D.

The FA chairman said that the final of the competition would come up on Nov. 26 as part of activities to mark one year in office of Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun

Ogunjobi, however, said that the competition might likely become an annual event, appealing to members of the state referees council and other stakeholders to make a success of the competition.(NAN)
