Mykonos Island

Mykonos referred to as the ‘island of wind’ which blows over an eclectic, spread of visitors on her sandy beachside hungry for her warmth every season. Described as possessing a ‘certain charm combined with an attitude that embraces everyone from all walks of life, many visitors say that Mykonos represents a freedom that they have not found elsewhere.’

The party Island as it is popularly called, offers an incredible nightlife, ‘the non-stop parties or just to relax on this Greek island that’s like no other.’

Situated by the sacred islands of Delos and Rhenia, Mykonos offers tourists an added pleasure of visiting the ruins of the Delos. According to Greek mythology, Delos is the birthplace of the god Apollo and his twin sister, Artemis.

Rhodes Island

Rhodes is said to be ‘a mesmerising collage of deep blue skies, crystal clear seas and historic beauty.’ And the coastline described as ‘a beach lover’s dream with plenty of sandy bays and secluded spots for you to enhance your tan.’ With a cultural heritage as inspiring s the beach and island itself, Rhodes town has a fine pedigree; ‘planned in 408BC by Hippodamos, its old town is now a patchwork of Byzantine, Turkish and Latin architecture.’ To the West of Rhodes is the extensive carpet of ruins of the ancient Doric City.

Snaking around her rocks, coves or sun rays, the long stretches of golden sands are perfect for relaxations.

Corfu Island

Corfu has long been considered as one of the most beautiful islands in Greece because of the wealth of beauty and green nature which envelopes it along with the friendly people.

The cliffs at Paleokastritsa have a peculiar beauty which have been photographed in different shades at sunset and still have something new to offer any first timer.

Records state that, ‘Corfu town is the main attraction with a nice mix of Venetian, French and English period buildings. In the town, there are a couple of fortresses and the center of it all is a big square with on one side, houses and cafes and on the other side the old fortress. 50 meters south of the square is the archeological museum. Almost half of the population of the island live in Corfu Town (or Kerkyra). Corfu is the most northern of the Ionian Islands, and the second one in size, after Kefalonia. The northeast of Corfu Island is only about two kilometers distance from Albania.’

Crete Island

Pronounced Creta, Crete is in a world of its own and could be said to be a different kind of Greece. Placed on the same latitude with Tunisia, it offers a totally African encounter with its immense sunshine. This is cooled off by the gentle sea breezes.

Beautifully landscaped with mountains as high as ‘eight thousand feet, gorges running up to twelve miles through rock walls at times 1,000 feet high and countless beaches lead to a clear blue sea. Add to these high alpine meadows, well watered plains and valleys, a rich archaeology and flora and fauna as yet largely unthreatened and you have a country worth a visit.’

Santorini Island

At first sight, the impression of Santorini Island is one of an artist’s appreciation of the view. Naturally shaped by a volcanic eruption that sank the centre of this once circular island around 1500 BC leaving only a vast ocean-filled crater – the caldera, which turned out to be an attraction in itself, Santorini plays host to a high rate of visitors trouping in all year round. Evidently taken in by the landscape and back drop of roof tops cascading down the mountains, visitors appreciate ‘Santorini’s classic images which epitomise the very essence of Greek island charm with brilliant white houses tumbling like sugar cubes down steep cliff sides and rocky islets adding texture and depth to views across an impossibly blue sea.

Layers of jet-black ash, pale cream pumice stone and vibrant red lava piled steeply upon each other is one of the most spectacular natural sights in all of Greece. The gleaming white towns and villages of Oia, Imerovigli and Fira crown the crater like glistening jewels.’
