The national president of the coalition, Malam Ayuba Mohammed, made the call in a statement, which he signed and issued to pressmen in Abuja.
Mohammed regretted that Dr Enejere would want to throw the peaceful and progressive university into chaos for his political goal and the desire to assume the role of a vice chancellor.
Mallam Ayuba Mohammed noted that investigation by a non-govenmental organization had indicated that Dr Enejere in collaboration with a faction of the alumni was misguiding a section of the media concerning the crisis that is rocking the association.
He said: “Our investigation has revealed that a section of the media has been compromised, churning out half-truths and outright false information about the crisis. We learnt that the crisis revolves around the struggle by the Nsukka community to produce the next vice chancellor.
“While we do not question the right of Dr Enejere and his associates to produce the next vice chancellor from Nsukka zone, but we are unhappy with the fact that they have politicized the university environment, threatening to cause mayhem if they do not have their way,” the statement noted.
The group said: “Our concern is that the UNN is a national university for all Nigerians and we are all stakeholders, therefore we cannot watch idly while some politicians are bent to destroy its good image.”
