The Arewa Christians and Indigenous Pastors Association (ACIPA) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other top government officials to investigate what it described as the alleged marginalisation of Christians in the federal civil service.

In an open letter addressed to the President, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Minister of Justice, and the leadership of the National Assembly, ACIPA expressed concern over the recent selection process for the appointment of Federal Permanent Secretaries.

According to the group, a candidate from the North-East, who reportedly scored highest in the interview, was not selected, while another applicant with a lower score was announced as one of the new Permanent Secretaries.

ACIPA said the development had raised concerns among Christian communities in Northern Nigeria about fairness and inclusivity in public service appointments.

“We are calling on the authorities to review the process and ensure that merit and equity are upheld,” said Rev. (Dr) Luke Shehu, the group’s chairman, in a statement released on Thursday.

The association urged the Federal Government to ensure that future appointments reflect Nigeria’s diversity and uphold the constitutional principles of fairness and equal opportunity.

ACIPA also appealed to religious leaders, lawmakers, and civil society groups to support efforts aimed at promoting justice and inclusiveness in governance.
