A group of politicians in Adamawa State under the platform of “Adamawa Forward Political Organization’ has called on the former Vice president and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar to clear his name in the alleged plot to substitute the ADC gov’ship candidate, Ambassador Omar Suleiman Omarana.The organization which staged a peaceful protest against the alleged move to replace Omarana as ADC ‘s governorship flag bearer asked Atiku to hands of any such plot if he is involved, advising that failure to do so can be detrimental to his presidential ambition.
The ADC has been experiencing internal crisis in the state since the conduct of the primaries with speculations that some party leaders are working to of remove Omarana as the party’s governorship flag bearer.
Spokesman and Secretary of the group, Hon. Joshua Buba while addressing the demonstrators at the ADC state Secretariat in Yola on Monday said they are uncomfortable with the rumour that Omarana elected as the party’s flag bearer will be substituted.
Buba explained that many ADC stakeholders are disturbed with the development, urging the leadership and stakeholders of the party to intervene in making sure that the right thing is done in the interest of fairness and justice.
Buba who accused some politicians residing in Abuja of deliberately causing confusion, called on the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to do the needful.
“What we are hearing is that, some people are currently at the party’s headquarters in Abuja making frantic efforts to substitute Omarana with one, Hamman Tukur.
“But what we want them to understand is that, we will resist the attempt to force any one on us.
“They should also know that, what they are trying to do will be a catastrophic for the party ahead of the 2027 election”. Buba warned.
Also speaking on the issue, State Public Relations Officer, PRO of the movement, Abdulaziz Mohammed expressed displeasure with the situation and appealed to Atiku Abubakar to come out and disassociate himself from the uproar.
“We call on our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to come out and distance himself from such undemocratic moves which can affect his chances in the 2027 polls”. Mohammed highlighted.
Efforts to speak to the ADC party chairman in the state, Barrister Ibrahim Sadiq Dasin was unsuccessful as at the time of filing in this report.
