The Arewa Progressive Vanguard (APV), a sociopolitical network group with membership across the 19 northern states and the diaspora, has called on individuals and groups to avoid actions or comments that could stir ethnic tension in the country.

In a statement signed on Thursday by its Global President, Alhaji Idris Musa, the group urged Nigerians to support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mr. Adedapo Segun, in the discharge of his duties.

The group noted that the NNPCL plays a vital role in Nigeria’s economy and that senior officers of the company deserve the peace and stability required to perform optimally.

“Such an office as that of the CFO is very sensitive and key to national economic growth. We should not use our hands to weaken our own institutions,” the statement read in part.

APV also emphasized the importance of unity, cautioning against comments or actions that could fuel division. “Corruption does not know tribe or region. We must remain sensitive and avoid creating issues where none exist. Nigeria cannot afford unnecessary distractions,” the group stated.

The organisation further called for patience with statutory institutions, noting that due process and professionalism should guide national discourse.

“We urge the public to remain calm and confident in the systems of governance. Let us work together to build peace, unity and progress for our nation,” it added.
