The Association of Kwara Students and Youth stakeholders on Monday called for the reopening of the Kwara state university (KWASU).

Recalled that crisis began to build up following the appointment of an Ag. Vice Chancellor and order by the governor of the state for the incumbent Vice Chancellor to proceed on terminal.

The students of the institution has threatened to embark on protest of the state governor did not reverse the decision for the incumbent VC to embark on terminal leave.

Addressing journalists in Ilorin, Chairman of the association, students and alumni of KWASU, Sa’eed B. Yusuf, said they are demanding immediate reopening of the school and called for sanction of some officers.

“We call on Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed to reopen the university with immediate effect if indeed the purported closure has any force of the law.”

“We also direct the council to source only the best candidate that can drive growth and development in the university based on academic accomplishment, niche for excellence and good record of performance in similar capacity,” Yusuf said.

He therefore urged the governing council to based their recommendation of a new VC on fairness, equity and justice.

He also advised the governor not to take the issue with kid gloves and should not think of the limited time he has as the Chief executive of the state.
