Led to the emir’s palace by a former member of the state house of assembly, Zubairu Ali Gafai, the group specifically urged the emir to discipline the former speaker for unguided utterances or strip him of the traditional title of “Dallatun Katsina” and membership of the emirate council. The group which comprised of members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state accused the former speaker of betraying the President after aiding him to the level he is now, alleging envy and hatred to the President.
Mr Gafai who accused those calling for Yar’adua’s resignation as selfish politicians who were not persuaded by national interest. According to him, they are people who have lost favour with the government of the day, saying that the President has within the last few years succeeded in bringing piece to Niger Delta and in sanitising the banking sector and does not deserve to be called to resign.
