A former member of the state House of Assembly, Zubairu Ali Gafai, who led the group to the Emir’s palace specifically, urged the Emir to discipline the former speaker for unguided utterances or strip him of the traditional title of Dallatun Katsina and as a member of the Emirate Council.

The group which also comprises members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state accused the former speaker of betraying the President after raising him to the level he is now.

Ali who accused those calling for Yar’adua’s resignation said they are doing so for selfish and not national motive after losing favour with the government of the day. He also said the President has within the last few years succeeded in bringing peace to the Niger Delta area and in sanitising the banking sector.

Responding, the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, thanked the group for conducting their protest in a peaceful manner and promised to table their request before the Emirate Council.

The Emir who responded through the senior counsellor of the Emirate and Wazirin Katsina, Dr Sani Abubakar Lugga, called for intense prayers for the speedy recovery of President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.
