A group, Campaign Against Corruption and Impunity (CACAI), has cautioned the FCT chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) against its plan to conduct direct primary for the March 2019 chairmanship and councillorship elections.

The FCT APC had slated 24th and 25th  October  2018, to conduct direct primaries for both chairmanship and councillorship.

The group’s coordinator, Comrade Baba Sani, who spoke with newsmen in Abuja, on Saturday, said the tension raised by the just concluded direct primary for the national assembly positions was yet to be doused.

He explained that several lives and property were lost as a result of the conduct of the direct primary and saw no reason to repeat the same system for area councils.

He said it was unfortunate that the party’s  decisions under the leadership of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole had only succeeded in creating tension and enmity among the party’s stakeholders in the FCT.

Sani added that it was high time the party’s stakeholders at the national level intervened to avert any possible crisis that the direct primary may cause.

“It is very unfortunate that even as families of those that lost their loved ones in the so-called direct primary were still mourning, the party was again planning to impose direct primary on the area councils,” he said.
