A socio-cultural group based in Benin city, the Edo’Okpa Youth Movement, has commended the Federal Government for approving the  immediate funding of 30km dualization of three sections of the Benin-Lokoja Federal Highway.

Last week, during a meeting with contractors the Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed that the Federal Government has put plans in place to complete the construction of the Benin-Lokoja road project within six months.

The group, led by Pascal Ero, at a press briefing yesterday in Benin, also commended the efforts of the Senators Monday Okpebholo (Edo Central) and Adams Oshiomhole (Edo North).

Ero said Edo State had suffered  neglect as vehicles from the North going to the South now prefer to go through Lokoja or Okene, to avoid the deplorable Benin-Auchi-Okene expressway which passes through the state.

“Adams Oshiomhole and Senator Okpebholo, popularly called Akpakomiza have just demonstrated that they can collaborate with the Federal government to give Edo people good roads and better infrastructure.

“We don’t want those who will come and speak grammar for us in government house again. We want those who will work. We want action and Akpakomiza is demonstrating action as you can see,” he stated.
