The North Central Youth Council of Nigeria has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for nominating Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement signed by its Speaker, Hon. Sunday Asuku, the council described the nomination as a significant milestone and a demonstration of the President’s commitment to fairness, justice, and inclusivity in governance.

The group noted that the choice of Professor Amupitan, the first nominee for the position from the North Central region, reflects the administration’s resolve to ensure equitable representation across all zones.

It expressed confidence in Prof. Amupitan’s capacity to lead the Commission effectively, citing his extensive background in law, academia, and public service.

“We believe that Professor Amupitan’s wealth of experience and professionalism will contribute to strengthening Nigeria’s electoral process,” the statement said.

The council congratulated Prof. Amupitan on his nomination and urged him to uphold integrity and excellence in the discharge of his duties.
