An Arewa civil organisation has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the move to establish forest guards to combat incessant terrorists and criminal gangs’ attacks across the country.

A statement by the convener of the Arewa Think Tank (ATT), Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, said the move to deploy guards to the country’s 1,129 forests shows that the president is creative and in full charge of the country with the large heart for the well-being of the citizenry.

Yakubu also called on all the state governors to emulate President Tinubu in the same direction in order to rid the country completely of terrorists and their nefarious activities.

He advocated for the recruitment of the guards to be a collaborative security effort between the federal and state governments.

“We also wish to add that the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the Ministry of Environment should take up the task of overseeing and ensuring the full implementation of this laudable and unprecedented initiative by Mr. President,” he said.

“It is our belief that this initiative will provide employment for thousands of young able Nigerians as personnel of the newly established security outfit,” he added.
