A group, the Green Action Against Hunger Initiative has launched its pioneer programme, Green Action Food Brigade (GAFOB).
The international coordinator of the initiative, Professor Humphrey Ogoegbunam, said the programme would be  carried out by volunteers across the 774 local government areas of the  country.
“We would start with the practical; our volunteers will start farming and by  next week, we shall be all over Abuja and from there every state of the federation,” he said.
He added that they had acquired land from traditional rulers in three places and have also held talks with the FCT minister, Alhaji Muhammad M. Bello, regarding land for cultivation.
He charged the federal government and other well-meaning Nigerians to support the programme so that no graduate roamed about after graduation.
The programme is expected to achieve a holistic re-orientation of Nigerians towards agriculture.
