A group, Mansion of Blessedness, has sponsored medics to conduct free eye and blood checks in rural communities in Biase LGA of Cross River State.

The group has also donated bales of textile wrappers to elderly citizens of Biakpan village.

More than 1000 elderly citizens and youths from Etono 1 and Etono 2, Biakpan and Azaga in nearby Abia State turned up for the one day event.

Most of the people were treated for eye defects, glasses were given out, high blood pressure tests and referrals made to government hospitals.

During their one week activities tagged Mother’s Glorification which climaxed on Independence Day, the group would also give out foodstuffs and clothing materials to the women folks.

In Calabar, the clergywomen also gave pupils of Mother Elizabeth Nursery/Primary School exercise books, pens/pencils and school bags.

One of the beneficiaries, Madam Esu Egwu from Biakpan commended the group for coming to her rescue because she had spent a lot to treat her eyes defect before now.
