Arise Women, a non-governmental organisation, has upgraded a borehole and offered free medical screening and treatment to residents of Kpaduma in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The organisation also donated a digital library to Dafara community in Kuje Area Council of Abuja.

Speaking during the commissioning of the borehole and medical outreach at Kpaduma, the convener, Arise Women, Pastor Siju Iluyomade, said the organisation made the donation because Kpaduma residents have been suffering from water-borne diseases as a result of unavailability of clean water as well as absence of  a health facility.

Iluyomade said the objective of the organisation was to empower women, promote preventive healthcare and ensure access to healthcare services.

“Like the name, when you arise for women, their lives change. We seek to bring change in the lives of the downtrodden. 

“We are trying to ensure that the less privileged are no longer referred to as destitute because they have rights just like every other Nigerian,” she said.
