A northern women group, Jam’iyar Matan Arewa, (JMA) said it is collaborating with the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) to provide loans for rural women engaging in agro-business.

During a courtesy visit to the BOA in Kaduna, the President of JMA, Hajia Rabi Saulawa stated that women in rural areas faced various difficulties in accessing loans to finance their business despite having the expertise, hence the need for the partnership.

She noted that women have a large population in the agricultural sector but find it hard to access loans that could help in propelling their businesses, adding that with the partnership, they would benefit in getting loans and training.

On his part, the Managing Director of BOA, Alwan Hassan, assured of the bank’s readiness in integrating rural women in micro lending schemes.

“We will ensure that the collaboration results in financial inclusiveness of rural women.

“Also, they will benefit in the micro lending schemes that are ongoing as we will work with JMA closely for the realisation of the plans,” he said.
