The Royal School of Educational Therapy Foundation (RSET), Abuja, has partnered the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, to train teachers and other interested education stakeholders in special education.
The partnership which was flagged off at the RSET premises in Gwarimpa, Abuja, on Tuesday, is aimed at providing training for interested stakeholders in special needs education, including teachers, parents, caregivers, law enforcement agents, health care providers and peer groups who will promote the attainment of equal educational opportunities for all learners.
The founder of RSET, Dr Badewa Adejube Williams, said the partnership would provide anyone with the desire to work with children in whatever capacity the competency and certification to do the job properly.
Dr Williams said, “By the time you get our certificate, you’ll be able to work anywhere in the world, because this programme is not only credentialed or certificated by FCES Oyo; but also by the International Board of Credential and Continuing Education (IBCCE). So, everyone should get on board and get trained and have registered skills to make you very effective in the classroom.’’
The Provost of FCES Oyo, Prof Kamoru Olayiwola Usman, represented by the Registrar, Mr Joseph Ayoola Araoye, said, “The partnership provides another platform for creating awareness that every child, no matter the disability, should have access to same educational experiences as others and every barrier to this should be removed.”
He said the trainees would be awarded Advanced Certificate in Special Education and Certificate in Special Education at graduation.
