Sunnah Global Media, the proprietors of Sunna TV in collaboration with the North East Development Commission (NEDC) have trained 35 persons on peaceful coexistence in Yobe State.
Participants were selected from traditional and religious leaders as well as women and youth groups.
Speaking during the three-day workshop in Damaturu, the Director General of the organisation, Dr Ibrahim Omar Disina said that the objective of the training was to promote alternative dispute strategies in resolving conflicts.
According to him, the training would cover about 210 participants in the six states of the northeast affected by the insurgency.
He said the workshop focused on conflict management and family law for peaceful coexistence in the region adding that facilitators with expertise in the field were chosen.
He further said other components of the training include 30 minutes TV programme dwelling on peace between interfaith.
In his remarks, the Senior Manager, Humanitarian Affairs of the NEDC, Musa Zarami emphasised that the commission is working with government and agencies to facilitate policies and programmes aimed at restoring peace in the region.
